Thing 13- Tagging and Folksonomy

I found a presentation given by an Australian man. This was ironic because he was my first pick and I was able to see pictures of the Opera House in Sydney, where I will be visiting in July. The title of his session was I like delicious things. He also has a betchablog.wikispaces.com blog where you can read and learn more about him. I wasn’t sure about tags however, Chris Betcher was an excellent teacher and really went through tagging step by step. He gave many fantastic ideas and helpful hints about tagging. I definitely would recommend this presentation to others.

Chris talked about Tag Clouds and how they contain all the tags you have been using and how the more you use a tag the bigger and bolder it gets. He discussed the importance of spelling so when you are searching for a tag and it is misspelled you won’t be able to find it.

He showed a really interesting tag on the Presidents of the United States. If you go to http://chir.ag/pernalia/preztags/ you will find many interesting things about our Presidents over the years.

The presentations available on the K12 site were amazing and incredibly varied. I didn’t see this one, but now I want to check it out, Fancy Nancy! I bet it will help me on my next assignment which, unlike you, I have not gotten to yet. Thanks for the good information!
